Meto’s Origin STory (1:55)
Meto recalls watching wrestling from a very young age, with his earliest memory being Goldberg spearing Triple H at Unforgiven 2003 to win the World Heavyweight Championship. That moment inspired him to pursue wrestling, and from then on, he was determined to make it their path with no second thoughts.
Homeless in Belgium (4:18)
Meto was homeless for a few weeks in Belgium after moving there at 18 to work and save money for wrestling school in the U.S. Coming from Bulgaria, he knew the financial and legal challenges of moving to the States, so he took a job opportunity in Belgium shortly after finishing high school. However, things didn’t go as planned, and after being kicked out of his housing, he lived at the airport until he saved enough money for a ticket back home.
Determined to keep pursuing his dream, Meto then went to Spain, where his uncle had lived for years. He struggled at first, getting fired from multiple jobs due to language barriers and other issues. However, with his uncle’s support, he secured a job on the condition that he learn Spanish quickly. Within a month, he was fluent, showcasing his resilience and adaptability. By the end of the journey, he had mastered four languages.
Near Death Experience (10:28)
When Meto moved to the U.S. to pursue wrestling, he suffered a major setback just a month in—a severe brain injury that included brain bleeding and significant damage. The injury wasn’t from a single incident but rather multiple concussions that compounded over time. Doctors warned him that he might never wrestle again or do any athletic activities, and his coach tried to prepare him for that possibility.
During his eight to nine months of recovery, Meto lost around 50 pounds due to inactivity and struggled with depression. He kept the injury a secret from his family back home, relying solely on the support of his coach and fellow students at the wrestling school. It was one of the hardest times in his life, but ultimately, he recovered and continued his journey.
Guidance from a Former WWE Superstar (18:59)
Meto developed a significant mentorship with Miro, who took him under his wing despite not knowing him well at first. At 18, Meto approached Miro at the gym for advice on pursuing wrestling. Initially, Miro joked that Meto was “too old” to start, but after realizing his true age and determination, he decided to help.
They stayed in touch for years while Meto worked to save money for his move to the U.S. When the time finally came, Meto met with Miro in Bulgaria and asked for guidance on where to train. Miro immediately directed him to Miami to train with Gangrel, setting him on the path to fulfilling his wrestling dreams.
