Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal, born on January 11, 1981, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is a renowned combat sports athlete. He started wrestling at Plano East Senior High School in Texas, where he won a state championship. Lawal continued his career at the University of Central Oklahoma, earning an NCAA Division II National Championship. He became a three-time U.S. Senior National Wrestling Champion and represented the United States in international competitions. His wrestling success laid a foundation for his future in combat sports.
Lawal transitioned to MMA in 2008 and quickly made an impact in the sport. He signed with Strikeforce, where he captured the Light Heavyweight Championship in 2010 by defeating Gegard Mousasi. Known for his wrestling base, he integrated powerful striking into his game. Lawal’s knockout power became a hallmark of his fighting style.
